11-year-old dies in motorcycle crash with another underage rider

He lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and collided with another motorcycle ridden by a 13-year-old boy.

PETALING JAYA:
An 11-year-old boy died from severe head injuries yesterday after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into another underage motorcyclist in Sik, Kedah.

Police said the accident occurred when the 11-year-old lost control of his motorcycle and collided with another motorcycle being ridden by a 13-year-old boy along Jalan Kampung Betong, reported Harian Metro.

Sik police chief Shamzury Saman said the 11-year-old boy was rushed to Sik Hospital but died at 8.45pm while receiving treatment.

The 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.

“It is important for parents and guardians to monitor their children and ensure that they do not ride motorcycles without a licence and helmet,” said Shamzury.

“A careless attitude can lead to tragedy.”

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
