Rentap said Sarawak Sports Corporation had been appointed as the implementing agency for the project.
“The scope covers comprehensive improvements to ensure that the stadium facilities are safe, modern, and meet current standards.
“It includes upgrades to spectator seats, a new LED lighting system and LED screens, upgrades to ticket counters, and repairs to changing rooms, toilets, and the surau,” Bernama reported him as saying during question time at the Sarawak assembly sitting.
Rentap was replying to Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (GPS-Tupong), who asked whether the state government intends to upgrade Sarawak Stadium.
Rentap said the upgraded stadium facilities, which will meet current Fifa and Asian Football Confederation standards, would provide a more conducive environment for football competitions of various levels.
“This includes the Sarawak Premier League, an important platform to develop local players and community clubs as they move on to higher levels,” he said.
