KUALA LUMPUR:
A judge’s former driver has pleaded not guilty to a charge of criminally intimidating the judge at the High Court here last week.

Fareez Zin, 39, was charged with threatening Justice Gan Techiong, 64, with the intention of causing him fear and creating alarm.

The alleged offence took place at the Kuala Lumpur High Court (civil) in Jalan Duta here at 1.30pm on May 8.

He was denied bail by magistrate Farah Nabihah Dan who took into account the prosecution’s objection that the offence is non-bailable, and the need to ensure the judge’s safety

Fareez pleaded not guilty to a separate charge of having amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system, based on a urine test. He was granted RM2,000 bail with one surety.

His lawyer Karen Kaur told the court that Fareez is married and has three children and is currently unemployed.
