The fixture, which serves as a crucial pre-season warmup for Chelsea ahead of their 2026/27 campaign, will be held at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium at Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The match will also serve as a good test for AFC Cup winners JDT as they take on a top-tier European club.
The friendly is organised by TEG Sport.
The Blues, who recently appointed former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso as their manager, are the only club to have won every major trophy in the modern era.
Pete Nuttall, Chelsea’s director of football operations, said they were delighted to include the fixture against JDT as the final match of their pre-season tour, and make their first visit to the country since a friendly in 2013.
“Football has an incredibly passionate following across the region, and this is a fantastic opportunity for our supporters in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia to see the team in action once more ahead of the new season,” he was quoted as saying.
JDT CEO Luis Garcia said the club is proud and honoured to host one of the top Premier League clubs.
Garcia said the match is not only a milestone for JDT but also a reflection of their growing stature within Asian football.
“We look forward to the match, which is one of many more to come. Chelsea will enjoy not only JDT’s hospitality and the state-of-the-art facilities we have, but also the wonderful state of Johor,” he said.
TEG Sport managing director Rachael Carroll thanked the Tengku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, for his unwavering support in bringing the fixture to Johor.
