
PETALING JAYA: Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani became the second Malaysian men’s doubles pair to reach the Malaysia Masters semi-finals after defeating Japan’s Kakeru Kumagai-Hiroki Nishi in the quarter-finals today.
The world No 9 Malaysian pair, who rose to the occasion in front of the home crowd, won 21-17, 16-21, 21-16 in a 53-minute match at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil.
They will meet either compatriots Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik or China’s Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin are in the hunt for their second title this year after winning the Indonesia Masters in January.
Earlier, Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King beat Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith of the US to set up a meeting with Danish pair Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard in the semi-finals tomorrow.
