KUALA LUMPUR:
The road transport department (JPJ) has announced the suspension of its online service for vehicle ownership change, effective today, encompassing all digital channels including the public portal, kiosks, and JPJ business partners MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.

JPJ director-general Aedy Fadly Ramli said the move followed several complaints about incidents where vehicle ownership was changed without the registered owners’ knowledge.

“As such, beginning May 25, all vehicle ownership change matters for individual ownership and private company ownership must be addressed at JPJ counters,” he said in a statement.

For individual ownership, transactions can be completed on the same day at state JPJ and branch offices, while the confirmation and approval process for the private company category will take five to seven working days from the date complete documents are submitted.

For the eAuto service provider channel, Aedy said only transactions under the temporary ownership transfer system (STMS) would continue as usual.

The permanent ownership transfer system through the eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) platform has been suspended. Parties, including used car companies, who wish to carry out these transactions must submit their applications at state JPJ or branch offices.
