Lau said PN is capable of taking on its external rivals, but warned that internal divisions would spell the coalition’s defeat.

“If we are united, we are strong. But if we are divided, we will fall without our enemies even attacking us,” he said in a Facebook post.

The deputy PN chairman’s statement comes amid the ongoing feud between Bersatu and PAS, which has led to PAS deciding to reassess its partnership with the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the party is considering contesting the next general election without Bersatu in response to a series of actions that the party did not agree with.

He cited several issues that strained ties between the two parties, including developments in Perlis, alleged interference in appointments involving Kedah and Kelantan, and Bersatu’s opposition to admitting new Malay-Muslim parties into PN.

Hadi also claimed that Bersatu had weak grassroots machinery in previous elections but still demanded a large number of seats, although PAS workers had carried out much of the groundwork.

Bersatu expressed regret over Hadi’s remarks, saying he should have aired them internally within the PN Supreme Council.

PAS is expected to hold a meeting this week to decide on the matter before referring it to the PN leadership.
