Aaron-Khai Xing shock Indonesian pair to enter Singapore Open quarter-finals

The world No 27 duo beat seventh-ranked Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in straight games in the second round.

Rising Malaysian men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing continued their giant-killing run at the Singapore Open by beating world No 7 Indonesians Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

The world No 27 Malaysian pair stormed into the quarter-finals after beating their Indonesian opponents 21-19, 21-17 in 37 minutes in their second-round match at the Singapore Indoor Stadium today.

Aaron and Khai Xing had upset their world No 23 compatriots Nur Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong 21-15, 21-17 in the opening round yesterday.

They will face either India’s Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy or Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-huei -Yang Po-hsuan in the quarter-finals.
