In a statement, Apad said it was also looking into SOP compliance, the safety systems in place, train operations, and aspects related to train maintenance.
“The operators have been instructed to submit a full report on the incident as soon as possible.”
Apad said they would review the report before questioning the related parties to identify the factors that contributed to the derailment and determine if the incident was due to carelessness, non-compliance or violations of the licensing terms.
The investigation would be conducted under several sections of the Land Public Transport Act, it added.
“Apad would like to stress that there will be no compromise when it comes to passenger safety, system reliability and the integrity of the public transport service as these are matters that we cannot compromise on.”
Yesterday, Rapid KL confirmed that one of its trains derailed while passing a railway switch near Chan Sow Lin station.
However, no injuries were reported among the 25 passengers on board the train when the incident occurred.
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook has since ordered Apad to impose the maximum possible penalty on Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.
Prasarana Malaysia Bhd operates the Rapid KL public transport network in the Klang Valley through its subsidiaries, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd and Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd.
