I was born and raised in Kuantan. I choose to live close to my family, even though I’ve been offered jobs in KL and overseas.

Safety and security of my family is my utmost priority, nothing can trade-off against it!

I am a Chartered Accountant and I work with the operational team to grow our business. Not many companies in Kuantan provide such an opportunity, and I am glad that I found it in Lynas.

I worked for 19 years in a similar chemical industry based on mineral processing. In comparison, Lynas has implemented excellent procedures in accordance to international and Malaysian standards.

My job is managing the residue storage. I wear a radiation monitoring badge to monitor and record the exposure. The readings are taken monthly for the past 8 years.

My readings have been taken 96 times and have always been less than 1 millisievert. The allowable exposure for radiation workers is 20 millisievert. The allowable exposure for the community is 1 millisievert and that is the record I have on my badge.

This is enough to justify Lynas is safe.

I am the elected head of the Fishermen of Balok and I represent my people not some politicians. I can assure we have never caught fish that are poisonous due to chemicals or caught fish that look funny because of radiation.

I have never seen these people coming to talk to me or my people about anything. But I know these Lynas people. They have been regularly with us here. So to these people, stop using us as a political issue to win votes.

I initially had only 6 engineers and skilled people working for me. After 7 years providing service to Lynas as an in house contractor, my company has grown.

Now I have 30 full time workers and employ extra contract workers when required. My people are locals and depend on Lynas. I work on site and am confident Lynas is safe because I know and understand what I do.

There are many big industries in Kuantan and the Gebeng Industrial area.

Lynas is the only one that is continuously in the community. In Balok, they have improved the library and school, assisted village individuals, have bi-monthly recycling programmes, yearly qurbans, games, kids programmes with the library and schools. They have donated computers to the library and even have a dedicated person attached to the library.

Only Lynas does this.
