PETALING JAYA:
The Ampang divisions of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) have rejected the possibility of working with Zuraida Kamaruddin and Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) in the 15th general election (GE15).

Ampang BN has made its views clear in several banners that have mushroomed around the Ampang parliamentary constituency, where Zuraida is MP.

The banners state Ampang BN’s opposition towards cooperating with the plantation industries and commodities minister.

Ampang Umno vice-chief Nordin Kasiran confirmed that the divisions had put up the banners, reiterating that the coalition could not work with PBM as its members used to be from PKR.

“If the BN and Umno top leaders agree to work with them, we will continue to object,” he told FMT.

Nordin also said this matter would be raised to the state Umno leadership, led by Noh Omar.

He added that the division still maintained close ties with PAS in the area, though they were ready to “go solo” considering the status of Umno’s pact with Muafakat Nasional was unclear.

“With that said, there is no way we can work with PBM. We want a BN candidate to contest in Ampang. Win or lose, we want a candidate from BN, not another party.”

Previously, Zuraida, who is PBM’s “president-designate”, said her party would work with BN in GE15, with an official letter to be submitted to the coalition soon.

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi later said the coalition was open to working with any party, even PBM, as long as it adhered to its principles.
