Sim appoints DAP veteran Teng as SME Corp chairman

Former Selangor executive councillor Teng Chang Khim has been appointed as the new chairman of SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) by entrepreneur and cooperatives development minister Steven Sim.

In a statement, SME Corp thanked its now-former chairman Bernard Giluk Dompok for his three years of service since his appointment to the post on April 1, 2023.

Teng, a law graduate with a masters in business administration, is a DAP veteran who served six terms as a Selangor assemblyman from 1995 to 2022.

He was a member of the Selangor exco from 2013 to 2023, helming the investment, small-and medium-sized industries as well as the local government portfolios over the span of a decade.

Teng was also the first Chinese speaker of the Selangor assembly, serving in that role from 2008 to 2013.

He also sat on the boards of directors of the Selangor State Development Corporation, Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation, and Invest Selangor Bhd.
