KUALA LUMPUR: During this time of crisis, Malaysians are reminded of the brave souls who are risking their lives on the frontlines, fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Their hours are long, yet healthcare workers work tirelessly to ensure the safety of their fellow Malaysians, even if it means putting their own well-being at risk.
To support these brave men and women, Malaysians can now contribute to a crowdfund to provide medical staff with wholesome, healthy meals.
The project by Team 106, called “Meals4Medics”, aims to keep frontline healthcare workers nourished and energised for the fight against the pandemic.
Speaking to FMT, Dr Lim Geng Yan said that he has colleagues working round-the-clock, risking life and limb, to combat the pandemic.
“They’re working 12 to 14 hours a day without breaks, and by the end of their shifts, many of them don’t even manage to get a good meal because of the partial lockdown.”
He also said that some hospitals are in need of additional medical supplies, so while 70% of the collected funds will go into purchasing meals, the remaining 30% will be used to buy medical equipment such as thermometers and face masks.

Meals4Medics is joining forces with Hungry, Hawker Hall, Joybean and Goodmood to provide hot meals and beverages for the frontline Covid-19 fighters.
The project has already reached out to Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan Kuantan and Hospital Pulau Pinang.
Upon opening its crowdfunding page on Kitafund.com, Meals4Medics raised over RM13,000 in under 24 hours.
At the time of writing, the fund has already collected more than half of its targeted RM50,000, which it hopes to reach by March 31.
Every ringgit donated by members of the public will make a difference in the lives of those who have given up so much in the fight against the pandemic, said Dr Lim.
“Even though so many are stuck at home, their hearts and minds are still with the frontliners and I want to thank every donor for contributing to the fight against Covid-19.”
