Carlyn Wong certainly has an ideal job. As one of the founders of Fetch Me Later – a business in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, that offers boarding, daycare and grooming services, among others – she gets to bring her beloved miniature bull terrier, Silver Wong Siew Wah, to work every day.
It’s certainly a dream come true for most, if not all, furparents. And yes, Silver has a full (Chinese) name!
During FMT Lifestyle’s visit, the adorable canine could be seen prancing happily around the premises, which makes a lovely playground for any dog. Silver, who is seven, also greeted the team with curious sniffs and a tail that wagged so hard, it was but a blur.
Wong, 33, explained that Silver – nestled snugly in her arms during the interview – had initially been her father’s dog. But she ended up caring for the pooch, and they developed a close bond.
It was no surprise, therefore, that when Wong got married and moved out, she brought Silver along with her.

Silver, Wong fondly noted, has a very pure heart: “She has no ill-intentions towards anything or anyone.”
She recalled, for example, the day Silver met her brother-in-law’s guinea pigs for the first time. “She sniffed one of the guinea pigs and it screamed. That’s when Silver knew the guinea pig was scared.”
Since then, the sensitive pup ensures she keeps a wide berth around the guinea pigs so she doesn’t scare them.
Further describing her pet as a good-tempered dog, Wong revealed that Silver is also particularly gentle with her daughter, who is under two years old.
When it comes to food, Silver loves eating everything, even vegetables! The clever canine also knows how to respond to commands such as “sit down” and “high five”.

Miniature bull terriers are known for their high energy levels, and the same is true for Silver, who clearly enjoyed playing fetch with the FMT Lifestyle team.
And if there is one thing she really loves, it’s balls – the bigger, the better, according to Wong.
“She likes to hide her ball and then forgets about it. She’ll then come and ask me for help to look for it,” Wong said with a laugh.
Silver, of course, is always overjoyed when her furparent finally finds the ball!
Seeing how the sweet doggo spends a lot of time on the Fetch Me Later premises, one cannot help but observe how docile she is among humans and hounds alike.

Asked how she trained Silver, Wong explained that she has always been disciplined with her pooch and began socialising her from a young age.
“Her temperament has always been very good,” she added.
Reflecting on how Silver has changed her life, Wong said: “She taught me how to be a mum.
“My husband and I learnt how to be parents by looking after her. She really helped us ease our way into parenthood.”
