The Palestine Café & Restaurant, located on the corner of Tengkat Tong Shin and Jalan Sahabat near bustling Changkat Bukit Bintang, has been drawing much attention from passersby and on social media. A visit to the outlet revealed it had been established by a local entrepreneur sometime in July.
A staff member, who chose to remain anonymous, said the eatery offers a blend of local, western and Arabic cuisine, plus a variety of hot and cold beverages.
Popular is the Arabic chicken, beef and mixed shawarma, consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in an inverted cone, and roasted on a slow-turning vertical oven.

“The owner hopes to introduce more Middle Eastern and Arabic dishes once an appropriate chef is secured. Business is slowly picking up as news travels on social media,” the staff member told FMT.
He added that the eatery could accommodate up to 80 patrons, and offers indoor air-conditioned and alfresco dining.
Palestinian ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali told FMT he was aware of the restaurant but had not been involved in its establishment. In September 2020, Walid had officiated the renaming of Jalan Raja Laut 1 to Jalan Palestin.
Much ado had cropped up in the wake of Malaysia’s display of sympathy towards the plight of Palestine. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia would consider treating more injured Palestinians if there was a need, and repatriate them once they had recovered.
