Located in the new Sunway Square Mall, this modern Asian dining spot is open from 10am to 12am daily, shifting from a daytime café into a more relaxed evening hangout.
During the day, it’s the kind of spot you’d stop by for a matcha latte or a casual meal. By night, things wind down a little, with Asian-inspired cocktails added into the mix.
The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with a casual and family-friendly setting.
The menu is broad, meaning you’re not locked into one cuisine. You’ll find everything from Japanese ramen and Italian pastas to Thai-style rice bowls.
Alongside familiar options like nasi lemak with ayam goreng berempah and grilled chicken chop, there are also more daring offerings such as a spring onion cheesecake.

FMT Lifestyle visited during the day to try several dishes.
The chicken curry soup udon is one of those dishes that sounds a little unexpected but works.
The udon noodles are the highlight – thick, springy, and with a good bite. The curry was less rich than expected, leaning to the slightly tangy instead.
On the side, the chicken katsu arrived hot and crispy, with a good portion size and a decent amount of meat rather than just breading. Keeping it separate also meant the chicken stayed crunchy till the end.
The smoked salmon open toast was a safer pick, but a solid one. Inspired by Danish open sandwiches, this one was served on sourdough with generous chunks of smoked salmon, egg, and greens. The flavours were clean and balanced – a silky, uncomplicated bite that paired particularly well with a chilled matcha latte.
Speaking of which, the Mizuki iced matcha latte held its own. Made with ceremonial-grade matcha and a lower sugar level, the earthy flavour came through clearly without being overpowering.

The prawn salad here was straightforward – fresh prawns, greens, cherry tomatoes, and a mix of creamy and vinaigrette dressings. While relatively simple, it was refreshing and pleasantly filling.
The red bean butter croissant, one of their popular items, is a Korean-inspired dessert. The croissant itself was more bread-like than flaky, but this worked in its favour, complementing the smooth red bean filling and chilled butter.
And the red bean filling is the real deal, with chunks of red bean throughout. It was not too sweet, and the smaller portion made it easy to finish.
There’s also a pastry counter by the entrance, with chocolate cromboloni if you’re just dropping by for something quick.
By lunchtime, the place was already filling up with office workers and students, usually a good sign.
Whether you’re after a casual bite in the afternoon or a more laid-back evening with drinks, Odon beyOnd makes a compelling case as a versatile dining spot in the city.
