Penang fisherfolk group urges PM again to scrap PSI project

Pen Mutiara says whichever party wins the Aug 12 state polls needs to care for fishermen's welfare.

GEORGE TOWN:
A fishermen’s group protesting the reclamation of an island off Bayan Lepas has again urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to intervene and scrap the project.

Penang Fishermen’s Association (Pen Mutiara) chief Ibrahim Che Rose said the Penang South Island project will affect the livelihood of thousands of fishermen.

“It does not matter which party wins in the state elections, but remember to care for our welfare,” he said at a press conference at Sungai Batu here.
