Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the review of WFH for state civil servants followed Putrajaya’s recent move to implement such arrangements from April 15.
NIBONG TEBAL:
The Penang government will assess the feasibility of implementing work from home (WFH) arrangements for civil servants in the state, says chief minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow said the review follows Putrajaya’s recent move to allow WFH as well as a special meeting of chief ministers and menteris besar with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim yesterday which focussed on the impact of the global energy crisis, triggered by the West Asian conflict.

Chow, who attended the meeting with the Penang state secretary, said the current WFH initiative applies only to agencies under the federal government.

“On Wednesday, we will review the matter to assess its suitability for implementation at the state level.

“If approved, the state government may introduce additional guidelines and identify the departments that will participate,” he told reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Byram Large-Scale Solar Farm Project 5 here today.
