GEORGE TOWN:
A man found inside a car parked in front of an ice cream shop at Jalan Sungai Dua in Gelugor yesterday died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake said the cause of death of the 37-year-old engineer was determined following a post-mortem conducted at Penang Hospital today.

“The post-mortem found that the victim died due to carbon monoxide poisoning and there were no elements of foul play. The case has been classified as a sudden death,” he told Bernama.

It is believed that the man, from Air Itam, had fallen asleep in the car registered to his wife without switching off the engine.

He is believed to have died about five days earlier.
