PETALING JAYA:
Police have confirmed receiving a report last night that a seven-year-old child was forced to drink chilli water at a taska in Taman Sri Kluang, Johor.

Kluang police chief Bahrin Noh said the report was lodged by the child’s guardian at about 8.45pm, accusing a teacher at the taska of child abuse.

Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child abuse, Bernama reported.

In a post on May 27, the “This is Johor” Facebook page accused a taska at Taman Sri Kluang of child abuse, including forcing a child to drink chilli water in the kitchen.

It also claimed that a seven-year-old boy was forced to stand naked in front of other children as punishment for failing to sleep during naptime.

The page’s administrators said they had asked for CCTV footage, but the taska’s management claimed the cameras were faulty and had not recorded anything.

The Facebook page also shared a copy of an alleged apology issued by the taska a day earlier, in which it said it had sacked the teacher responsible and would strengthen its supervision and safety procedures.
