BANGI: Independent preacher Zamihan Mat Zin claimed he received death threats twice for speaking against Shiah and Wahabbi teachings, as well as religious extremism.
Shiah and Wahabbism are branches of Islam, the former of which is frowned upon by Sunnis.
Zamihan is president of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia Organisation which upholds Sunni teachings.
He said he plans to lodge another police report over the second death threat soon.
“The threat was made through Facebook by a stranger from Penang,” he told FMT. “The person said people like me should be killed.”
He was disappointed that no action had been taken after he lodged the earlier police report. He said he believed the threat was made by a teacher believed to be residing in Lahad Datu, Sabah.
