PETALING JAYA:
DAP’s Sarawak Tasik Biru candidate has accused Barisan Nasional of not fulfilling its election promises to build three hospitals in the state.

Mordi Bimol said Deputy Health Minister Dr Hilmi Yahaya had earlier announced construction of three new hospitals in Lawas, Petra Jaya and Sri Aman in Sarawak.

However, three years later on April 30 this year, Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam announced the same plans for the hospitals, he said in a statement.

“I was surprised to hear the same announcement by the Health Ministry last week. The same promise was made three years ago.

“Sarawakians are deceived and fooled by empty Barisan Nasional promises, one after the general election in 2013 and again during this ongoing 2016 state election.”

Mordi said despite the change in chief minister from Taib Mahmud to Adenan Satem, Sarawakians are still waiting for the construction of the three hospitals.

“The present Bau District Hospital for Tasik Biru voters is in a deplorable condition.

“They are also waiting for the construction of Stungkor clinic for mothers and children promised 15 years ago.”

Mordi said the construction site for the Stungkor clinic was identified and approved in 2004 by the state government and is now under the jurisdiction of the Federal Land Commission.

“It is obvious the health of residents in Tasik Biru is not a priority for the Barisan Nasional.

“Will any of the ministers and state assemblymen send their family members to Bau Hospital in its present condition?”
