PETALING JAYA: The prime minister, Najib Razak, has paid tribute to all fathers, in a Father’s Day posting on Twitter.
He said fathers were often heroes and role models as well as an inspiration to their children, adding that “My father certainly was for me”, Bernama reported.
Najib’s father, second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, was known as Bapa Pembangunan in his time for taking up the cause of rural development.
He was instrumental in creating the National Economic Policy, and put together the Barisan Nasional coalition. He died of leukemia in January 1976 after six years as prime minister and 13 years as deputy to Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra.
