The former national footballer’s sacking came following the team’s poor showing in the Malaysian Super League (MSL), the report quoted Selangor team manager Amirudin Shari as saying in a statement.
Amirudin said he also acted upon the call by Selangor Menteri Besar and Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president Mohamed Azmin Ali, who wanted a revamp of the state football team, the report added.
“The duties of the head coach are taken over by assistant head coach K Gunalan until the FAS finds a suitable candidate to lead Selangor in the remaining Super League and Malaysia Cup matches.”
Other changes in the team management are expected to be announced today.
Selangor’s 0-1 defeat to Kedah in a Super League match at Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar on Saturday was its fourth straight defeat in all competitions.
