Zuraida, who is PKR Wanita Chief, arrived first to lodge a report of a threat issued by Jamal to her party workers.
“He said he wants to slash (cincang) my people. He is a dangerous man,” the Ampang lawmaker told reporters, adding that the party had lodged 50 police reports following the November 13 incident.
On Sunday, Red Shirts supporters led by Jamal showed up in Ampang where Zuraida and her PKR Wanita members were promoting the Bersih 5 rally planned for November 19, near Ampang Point mall.
When the PKR women headed into the mall, Jamal and his Red Shirts went after them, following them through the main concourse of the mall, shouting and remonstrating with the women.
Police stepped in to block their path resulting in an altercation, as seen on a video in the Malaysiakini news portal, which showed Jamal bleeding and accusing the police of punching him with repeated shouts of “Polis tumbuk saya!”
However, he later filed a police report stating that there was a clash between 150 of his men and a group in Bersih t-shirts. He claimed that those in yellow were acting violently and had disturbed public peace.
He later told FMT that “out of nowhere a man in a yellow t-shirt punched me. I got a bloody nose because of that.”
Jamal had come to the police station to give his statement on the incident, when he bumped into Zuraida.
“She is an irresponsible elected representative who only brings about chaos in Ampang,” the Umno Sungai Besar division chief said.
He went on to reveal that he had wanted to shake her hand but she had refused. He then stated that he had wanted to “knock” (dengkel) some sense into her but had refrained from doing so as they were in a police station.
“I believe that she has been possessed by the devil. The Bersih devil.”
