KUALA LUMPUR:
The Penang State Health Department and the Penang Hospital have confirmed that there was a mix-up in the handing over of a body to family members, as reported in a Chinese daily today.

In a statement issued today, the health ministry said further investigation into the case was being done and the staff member involved had been suspended from duty and will probably face disciplinary action.

“The health ministry really regrets this incident and views it seriously.”

The Penang Health Department and the hospital have met with the family of the deceased to explain and discuss the matter.

“The ministry is of the opinion that such an incident should not have happened in any public or private hospitals,” the statement said.
