SHAH ALAM: Ten people suffered burns caused by fireworks at a celebration to usher in the new year at the Pandamaran Sports Complex in Port Klang just after midnight.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul, said three of the victims suffered serious burns and were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.
The seven other victims were slightly injured and were treated at the scene of the incident by a medical team, he said in a statement.
Mohd Sani said a fire truck with seven fire-fighters responded to a distress call at 12.10am.
The fireworks exploded on the ground instead of in the air and injured those nearby.
A video of the incident has since gone viral.
