Kidnap victims overwhelmed at being home, meeting Najib

Tayudin Anjut and Abdul Rahim Summas express gratitude at being reunited with family after being held captive by the Abu Sayyaf for months.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak today met two of the five Malaysians kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf terrorists in the Philippines last July.

Tayudin Anjut, 46, and Abdul Rahim Summas, 63, arrived at the prime minister’s residence at Jalan Taman Duta here at 8am, where their family members were also waiting to welcome them home.

During the meeting, the two men, who were on wheelchairs and visually impaired, related the incident and their treatment at the hands of their kidnappers.

They appeared overwhelmed when expressing their gratitude at being back with their families.

The prime minister’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, was also present.

Tayudin and Rahim, who were crew members of the tugboat Serudong Tiga, were kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf terrorists in Dent Haven waters in Lahad Datu on July 18.

They were rescued by Filipino security forces in an operation in the south of the republic last Thursday, and arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang last night.

Abu Sayyaf terrorists are still holding three other Malaysians. Fandy Bakran, 27; Mohd Jumadil Rahim, 24; and Mohd Ridzuan Ismail, 33, also crew members of Serudong Tiga.
