Aussie man survives light aircraft crash near Kuantan

It crashed at 3.20pm while conducting a pesticide operation at Felda Keratong 2, Rompin.

KUANTAN: An Australian man survived after a light plane he was piloting crashed near the Kampung Melati plantation, Rompin, near here this evening.

Rompin district police chief DSP Azli Mohd Noor said the aircraft, piloted by Barry Allen Foster, 66, was reported to have crashed at 3.20pm while conducting a pesticide operation at Felda Keratong 2, Rompin.

“The victim did not sustain any injuries but was brought to the Tun Razak Health Centre for a health examination,” he told reporters here today.

Azli said the aircraft is owned by Woorayi Air Services Company.

Meanwhile, Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Mohd Sani Harul said the department was informed of the incident at 3.20pm.

He said the search and rescue (SAR) operation involved eight personnel from the Muadzam Shah Fire and Rescue station and the operation was concluded at 6.40pm.
