Ten state executive council members were also appointed at the ceremony held at Istana Syarqiyyah, Chendering, near here at 9.06pm.
The appointment of Samsuri as Terengganu MB followed the success of PAS in forming the state government after winning 22 of the 32 state assembly seats in the 14th general election yesterday.
The 10 assemblymen also took their oath as members of the executive council.
They were Saiful Bahari Mamat (Paka), Dr Alias Razak (Bukit Tunggal), Mohd Nor Hamzah (Bukit Payung), Dr Azman Ibrahim (Jabi), Tengku Hassan Tengku Omar (Ladang), Ariffin Deraman (Alur Limbat), Hanafiah Mat (Chukai), Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah (Wakaf Mempelam), Dr Mamad Puteh (Kuala Berang) and Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman (Kota Raja).
Also present at the ceremony were PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, former Barisan Nasional MB Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, who is also the assemblyman for Seberang Takir, Jertih assemblyman Muhammad Pehimi Yusoff and Kuala Besut assemblyman Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Rahman.
Samsuri was the political secretary of Hadi Awang and PAS central election director.
He was the former head of the aerospace department at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) after completing his studies in Leeds University, UK.
