Kitingan on Sunday had said he had pledged support for Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Musa Aman’s group of assemblymen to form the government after hearing that many illegals were celebrating Warisan’s victory, thinking their chances of getting a Malaysian identity card (MyKad) are better now.
Calling Kitingan a “frustrated politician”, Leiking took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the matter.
“I am not surprised by his action, but lying and speculating about illegal immigrants celebrating Warisan’s win goes beyond any call to forgive his desperation.”
Leiking, who successfully defended his Penampang parliamentary seat in last week’s general election, urged Jeffrey not to try justifying his mistake in joining Musa’s camp.
“As frustrated as you are over your political error to work with Musa Aman and the fall of his regime, please do not make up a lie and a false story to justify your mistake.
“Warisan is a Sabahan party which will solve all problems left behind by Jeffrey Kitingan’s partner Musa Aman, such as the unresolved illegal immigrant problems, non-action on the RCI and abuses,” he said.
Leiking was referring to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into “Projek IC”, an alleged scheme to issue citizenship to foreigners for votes which are said to have been carried out in the 1980s and 90s.
Kitingan had said the immigrant community was excited about the “unconstitutional swearing-in” of Warisan president Shafie Apdal as chief minister on Saturday
On Thursday, the day after the May 9 polls, incumbent chief minister Musa Aman had been sworn in as chief minister.
Following Shafie’s appointment as chief minister, Kitingan was reported to have said that with the presence of two chief ministers and the current constitutional crisis, it was time for Sabahans to unite to prevent a possible “reverse takeover” in the state.
“This development is a challenge to the pan-Sabah people who consist of the Chinese, Momogun and other communities.
“Sabah is facing the possibility of immigrants, who hold work passes and the IMM13 documents, getting the MyKad from the Warisan government,” he had said.
