KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today dismissed a blog post claiming there will be a Cabinet reshuffle after the Chinese New Year.

He described statements regarding a reshuffle as “fake news”.

“No Cabinet reshuffle. I stand by my Cabinet members,” Mahathir said at a Chinese New Year open house hosted by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia at Jalan Ampang today.

Mahathir’s wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail were also present.

Thousands of people from various communities attended the open house, which began about 10am, Bernama reported.

Yesterday, Wan Azizah had said she did not have any inkling about an impending Cabinet reshuffle after the Chinese New Year.

“That you have to ask the prime minister because I have not heard anything about it,” she had told reporters.

The deputy prime minister was asked to respond to a blog suggesting Minister of Economic Affairs Azmin Ali would be appointed deputy prime minister after the Chinese New Year celebration.
