KUCHING:
A man arrested in connection with the cheating case involving 47 Malaysians who were detained in Cambodia has been remanded for four days from today.

Kuching court registrar Dora Undau issued the order following an application from the case investigating officer, Pricha Azin.

Sarawak Commercial Criminal Investigation Department head Mustafa Kamal Gani said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested at his house here yesterday.

He said 23 people, including five women, had lodged police reports on the case.

The 47 Malaysians had been detained in Cambodia from Dec 11 last year on charges of cheating, initiating and carrying out illegal online gambling activities.

They were released on Feb 15 after it was found that they were duped by a job agency syndicate.
