SN Nair, the lawyer representing Ivana’s family, said coroner Mahyon Talib had arrived at a “wrong conclusion” in her recent verdict.
“We contend that from all her findings from the body of evidence, she ought to have given a verdict of homicide or unlawful killing,” Nair told FMT.
The lawyer applied for a revision at the Kuala Lumpur High Court at 4.15pm today.
Nair said a High Court judge will call upon him and the deputy public prosecutor to make a decision on a further hearing.
Nair pointed out that the coroner had accepted several contentions made by him, including the one on “lack of credibility and incompetence” of the investigating officer.

Mahyon had said that two suspects were able to “flee” as they were not “interrogated in depth”.
“And despite being subpoenaed to appear at the inquest, the duo had refused to attend the inquest giving rise to imputation of some level of culpability,” he added, referring to Alex Johnson and Luna Almaz.
Mahyon had also cited a Hospital Kuala Lumpur pathologist’s “incompetence” in making “damning assumptions of suicide”, without being present at the crime scene and her superior’s “demeanour”.
“The learned coroner has agreed with the findings and opinion of Dutch pathologist Dr Frank van Der Goot of death occurring earlier at the duo’s apartment itself, due to hyperthermia,” Nair added.
The coroner, despite agreeing to submissions, came to a “wrong conclusion”, he said.
Ivana was found dead at a CapSquare Residence condo balcony in the city centre on Dec 7, 2017.
The 18-year-old model was found nude on the sixth floor. She was believed to have fallen from the 20th-floor of the condo unit of her friends, Alex and Luna, an American-Kazakh couple.
Alex and Luna have always maintained their innocence in the case and are now believed to be living in the US.
