KUALA LUMPUR:
A total of 114 Chinese nationals were arrested on suspicion of being involved in an online gambling racket involving millions of ringgit in bets a day during a raid here last night.

They included 21 women.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 55, were nabbed at an upscale condominium at Jalan Ampang, in a raid by a team of police officers from Bukit Aman, led Hamzah Buman.

Hamzah said the suspects had entered the country on social visit passes.

Investigations revealed that the syndicate, believed to be in operation for about a month, carried out their racket at seven condominium units and had used WeChat to attract customers from China to place bets.

Hamzah said police seized RM44,000, 232 mobile phones and 63 computers during the raid.

He said six men were gambling when police surprised the occupants at the condominium.
