PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has suspended his aide, Muhammad Haziq Abdul Aziz, with immediate effect.

This follows Haziq’s accusations against a minister over alleged homosexual acts.

“He has also been instructed to respond to a show cause letter within three days,” Shamsul said at a press conference here this afternoon. The letter was sent yesterday.

Shamsul also said his ministry will not hesitate to terminate Haziq’s contract right away if the PKR Santubong Youth chief does not respond within the given time frame.

“We view seriously matters that involve my staff at the ministry.”

Shamsul also said that Haziq was hired based on his academic qualifications and experience. “So his actions are extremely shocking and unexpected.”

Shamsul also said that for the past six months since Haziq began his stint at the ministry, he had not noticed anything odd about him.

“A lot has been said on social media. But as the person who hired him, I am confused as he did not show weird tendencies in the last six months,” he said, adding that Haziq had been “absent without leave” since Tuesday.

Shamsul also said he had contacted Haziq’s family for information, but the family too has failed to get in touch with him.

“I texted him on WhatsApp instructing him to come to the office on Tuesday, but I have not received any reply.”

Haziq’s suspension comes hours after he questioned the Pakatan Harapan government’s sincerity after ruling politicians took turns to accuse him of having a political agenda in coming out with his confession clip early yesterday.

He also claimed that the sex romp he had with Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali – which Azmin has strongly denied – was not the first, before listing the times and venues where these alleged incidents took place.

Haziq had shocked the nation with a 30-second video clip uploaded on Facebook yesterday. He said he was the person seen in several viral video clips showing two men performing homosexual acts, one of whom resembles a senior minister.

Haziq named Azmin as the other person in the video, a claim the PKR deputy president says is aimed at killing his political career. Azmin has also threatened legal action.

Earlier today, Haziq claimed that he was approached by Hilman Idham, an aide to Azmin, who allegedly forced him to deny that he was the individual in the video.

Hilman, who is also the PKR deputy Youth chief, confirmed the meeting when he lodged a police report today but did not elaborate further.

Haziq also attacked Azmin for being a “sick man”, accusing him of recording the video “for personal collection”.
