Perak exco swearing-in postponed amid rape report

Members of the Perak state assembly renew their term annually.

PETALING JAYA: The annual swearing-in ceremony for the Perak executive council scheduled this Thursday has been postponed, following a police report accusing an exco member of raping his Indonesian domestic worker.

“It has been postponed indefinitely,” a source in the office of the menteri besar confirmed to FMT.

Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that Bukit Aman was investigating a police report lodged by an Indonesian national yesterday.

Exco members in Perak except the menteri besar must have their tenures renewed annually.

Five of the 10 assemblymen in Perak are from DAP.
