This was strengthened by a poll among its 13 divisions held recently that showed tremendous support for its founding leader.
State PKR chief Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik said 12 out of 13 divisions, save for the Nibong Tebal division, were fully backing Anwar.
“We are trying to get our Nibong Tebal division chief Mansor Othman, but can’t reach him at all. Perhaps he is out of the country? We do not know.
“But based on our poll in our WhatsApp group and later through signed documents, you can be sure Penang PKR fully supports its president,” he told FMT.
The letter, which was verified by Bakhtiar, states that as division leaders in Penang PKR, they would pledge their full support for Anwar to be the “nakhoda” (captain) and would be with him all the way.
The document was also signed by Nurul Izzah Anwar, who is Permatang Pauh PKR chief.
After Perak and Johor, Penang is the next state to come out in full support of Anwar. Johor saw 17 out of 26 divisions in support of him.
A total of 22 out of 24 divisions in Perak pledged their support for Anwar. Kedah saw 12 out of 15 divisions giving their support to Anwar.
Anwar has received the most support from Perlis and Terengganu.
The lowest support comes from Selangor where PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali was previously menteri besar.
