Up to 38 flats to be allocated in a joint initiative of the police and City Hall to curb crime at People's Housing Projects.

KUALA LUMPUR: In an effort to curb crime and improve the safety and quality of life at the People’s Housing Projects (PPR) in the federal capital, 38 residential units have been allocated for policemen and officers.

Kuala Lumpur police chief, Mazlan Lazim said the joint initiative by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall was to ensure the well-being of the PPR community.

For the first phase, a total of 27 units would be made available for the police personnel but the number was expected to reach 38 in the following phases, he said.

“Any crime-related information can be conveyed immediately to the police personnel who live in the area,” he told reporters after attending a Caring Community and Well-being programme at the Desa Rejang public housing project, here, today.

Mazlan said that the units in the first phase were in Seri Selangor, Seri Alam, Seri Sabah and Desa Rejang.
