KUALA LUMPUR:
Bukit Aman will record former prime minister Najib Razak’s statement tomorrow after an alleged defamatory Facebook post he made against Perak DAP chairman and Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming.

His lawyer, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, confirmed Najib will be summoned to assist in police investigations.

“He’s just a witness and nothing more than that,” he said after Najib’s 1MDB trial today.

However, Shafee did not disclose what time Najib will be heading to Bukit Aman.

Yesterday, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department chief Huzir Mohamed said police had informed Najib they will record his statement by this week.

Najib previously shared a screenshot of the Facebook post in question.

On Sept 29, an alleged statement insulting the Selangor ruler, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, was posted on Facebook through an account, “Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page”. The alleged statement asked the Chinese to protest against the Sultan over the removal of bilingual road signs in the state.

Nga had gone to Bukit Aman earlier this month to have his statement recorded for investigation under sedition.

He denied that he and DAP were involved in the Facebook post and claimed it was a fake account.
