Flash floods hit several parts of KL after downpour
No casualties were reported although several cars were trapped by rising waters, and a tree fell on a car.
PETALING JAYA: Several areas in Kuala Lumpur were hit by flash floods after a downpour early this evening.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said there were no victims in any of the emergencies they responded to.
The flash floods, which started at about 6pm, caused traffic jams on Jalan Lembah Ledang, Bukit Damansara, the Kuala Lumpur entrance to Universiti Malaya and Bulatan Segambut.
At Bulatan Segambut, several cars were trapped by the rising waters.
The department said that at the civil service quarters on Jalan U-Thant, a tree fell on a car. “Firemen cut and removed the tree. The operation ended at 10.05pm,” it said.
It said the floods also caused the retaining wall of a home in Kampung Dato Keramat to collapse.
The department said the flood waters began to subside by about 8.30pm.
