KUALA LUMPUR:
Dewan Rakyat proceedings were brought to a halt this morning after Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Eddin Syazlee Syah fainted during the question-and-answer session.

Eddin had appeared pale and weak during a discussion on open burning between Wong Hon Wai (PH-Bukit Bendera) and Zuraida Kamaruddin (PH-Ampang).

Deputy speaker Rashid Hasnon was forced to call a 10-minute recess in order for Eddin to receive medical attention.

Eddin, the MP for Kuala Pilah, was taken to the Parliament clinic in a wheelchair.

Bagan Serai MP Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said his blood pressure had been stable, but that he was believed to be suffering from exhaustion.

Eddin was brought to the National Heart Institute for further examination.
