With the recoveries, only 521 patients are currently being treated.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said there were no new deaths, with the toll remaining at 121.
The 10 new cases bring the total number of positive cases so far to 8,515. Of the new cases, three involve foreigners in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah, while seven patients are Malaysians from Selangor, Sarawak and Sabah.
He said the total number of patients who have recovered stands at 7,873, or 92.5% of the total number of cases. Four patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with none needing respiratory assistance.
Noor Hisham also announced a new cluster in Sabah involving the 120th fatality. The first case in this cluster involved a senior citizen who died on June 12 at home from heart complications.
He was screened for Covid-19 and tested positive. Before that, he was treated for heart disease at Hospital Queen Elizabeth II.
He said contact tracing found that two health workers had also tested positive. To date, 63 individuals identified as close contacts had been screened.
The source of infection for this cluster was still being investigated, he said.
On the three new cases involving foreigners, Noor Hisham said one of the cases involved a detainee at the Immigration Academy in Port Dickson who had been transferred from the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot.
The others were a close contact of a positive case in Kuala Lumpur and a patient who tested positive during pre-surgery screening at the Sabah Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
As for the seven local cases, he said four were part of the Kuala Selangor senior citizens cluster and a close contact of a positive case in Selangor. The cases in Sabah and Sarawak involved close contacts of positive cases.
Noor Hisham also also provided an update on the Kuala Selangor senior citizens cluster.
“As of today, 64 people have been screened after a positive case was detected among the residents.
‘”The screening includes 12 staff, 24 residents, 10 family members, 13 health workers and five members of the public.”
He said seven tested positive, 43 tested negative and 14 were awaiting results.
