3 of the seats the coalition, represented by PPBM, STAR and SAPP, is contesting will also be contested by its allies in Sabah.

KOTA KINABALU:
Perikatan Nasional (PN) will contest 29 seats in the Sabah state election, according to state PPBM chief Hajiji Noor.

At a press conference today, Hajiji said PN would be represented by its components PPBM, STAR and SAPP.

He did not mention if PAS would be contesting.

Hajiji said among the seats the coalition was contesting were the Paginatan, Sook and Tulid seats which would see it clash with its Barisan Nasional allies, Umno and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

On the breakdown of seats among the component parties, he said: “We are not talking about parties, only about Perikatan Nasional.”

Also present at today’s press conference were STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan and SAPP president Yong Teck Lee.

Asked about the overlap of seats with Umno and PBRS, Hajiji said he had yet to confirm the matter, adding that the press conference was only to announce PN’s candidates.

He said 60% of the coalition’s candidates were new faces.
