
The Bah Sintok and Jeram clusters were both detected in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, while the Bah Tanjung cluster was detected in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu.
The Bah Sintok and Bah Tanjung clusters’ first cases were individuals who had recently returned from Sabah.
Sabah returnee and 11 others in Bah Sintok cluster
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Bah Sintok cluster has 12 positive cases, Jeram has four while Bah Tanjung has seven.
The Bah Sintok cluster’s index case is a 23-year-old local who returned from Sabah on Sept 20.
He displayed Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, flu and headache on Sept 22 and tested positive on Oct 2, after which he was admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.
Subsequent close contact screening detected 11 more positive cases, all of whom have also been admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
A total of 165 individuals have been screened in the Bah Sintok cluster as of 12 pm today. Apart from the 12 positive cases, 61 tested negative and 92 are still awaiting results.
Healthcare workers among new Jeram cases
The Jeram cluster’s index case is a 31-year-old local who had a cough and headache since Sept 25 and was treated at the Tunjang health clinic on Sept 28.
She tested Covid-19 positive on Sept 29 and was admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar.
Subsequent close contact screening detected three more positive cases, all healthcare workers. They have also been admitted to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
A total of 65 individuals have been screened in the Jeram cluster as of 12 pm today. Apart from the four positive cases, 50 tested negative and 11 are still awaiting results.
Returnee and 6 others in Bah Tanjung cluster
The index case of the Bah Tanjung cluster is a 46-year-old local who travelled to Semporna, Sabah, from Sept 10-27.
He developed a sore throat and fever on Sept 28 and tested positive on Sept 30, after which he was admitted to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital, Kuala Berang.
Subsequent close contact screening identified six more cases, all of whom have been admitted to the Hulu Terengganu Hospital in Kuala Berang for treatment.
A total of 245 individuals have been screened in the Bah Tanjung cluster as of 12 pm today. Apart from the seven positive cases, 113 tested negative and 125 are still awaiting results.
