
In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the four clusters were detected in Sabah, Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Labuan.
The cluster in Negeri Sembilan has also been traced to a case in Putrajaya.
Noor Hisham said the four new clusters are known as the Olive cluster (Sabah), Bah Pasir cluster (Negeri Sembilan), Bah Pengkalan cluster (Perak) and the Saguking cluster (Labuan).
The Olive cluster was traced back to Hulu Langat, Selangor as well as Kota Marudu and Penampang, Sabah.
The index case was an individual in Selangor who had returned from Sabah, testing positive for Covid-19 on Oct 2. Close contact screenings found 16 others who were infected.
The Bah Pasir cluster, which was traced to Putrajaya and Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, involved a patient who also had travel history to Sabah and tested positive on Oct 8.
Eighty-two individuals have been screened, with 74 testing negative and three still awaiting test results.
Meanwhile, the index case in the Bah Pengkalan cluster in Hulu Perak, Perak tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from Sabah on Oct 8. Five other cases were detected through close contact screenings.
A total of 330 people have been screened, with 47 testing negative and 277 awaiting test results.
Finally, the Saguking cluster in Labuan involved an individual who was detected through a screening on Oct 11. Four others also tested positive after close contact screenings were conducted.
As of noon, 43 individuals have been screened. Three tested negative while another 35 are pending test results.
Regarding the Utama cluster, which has now been traced to Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat in Selangor as well as Alor Gajah in Melaka, Noor Hisham said 105 new cases were detected.
He said this brings the total number of positive cases in the cluster to 132, involving 107 Malaysians and 25 foreigners.
“The index case was a Nepalese, aged 28, who was a security guard at a shopping mall in the Petaling district. He showed symptoms of fever, cough and flu since Sept 22.
“The case was found positive for Covid-19 on Oct 8 through close contact screenings and he was admitted to Hospital Sungai Buloh for treatment.”
Noor Hisham added that most of the positive cases were security personnel, cleaners and staff at the shopping mall’s premises.
As of today, he said 447 people have been screened, with 269 testing negative and 46 awaiting test results.
“Close contact screenings and active case detection for this cluster is still being conducted by the relevant district health offices. Status updates will be announced from time to time by the health ministry.”
