PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said tonight the Cabinet will discuss the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s advice made when the King rejected the government’s proposal to declare a state of emergency.

In a statement issued late tonight, Muhyiddin said the Cabinet took note of the King’s decision and said the government’s focus now was on protecting the people against Covid-19.

Muhyiddin said he welcomed the trust that the King put in the government under his leadership.

“I welcome His Majesty’s advice that the stability of the government should not be threatened.”

Istana Negara said this evening that the King had consulted fellow rulers about the government’s proposal for a state of emergency to be declared.

However, the King felt that the government had succeeded in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and there was no need for a state of emergency to be declared over the country or in any part of Malaysia.

“His Majesty wishes to remind politicians to stop politicking, which can disrupt the stability of the country’s administration,” the statement said.
