Senior Minister Ismail Sabri warns public against sharing fake news featuring videos and pictures of the government, which he said have been edited and taken out of context.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The issue of dissolving Parliament was not brought up at the special Cabinet meeting called by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today.

In confirming this, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, however, that he could not reveal the agenda and what else was discussed during the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

“I cannot reveal anything but I can confirm the topic of dissolving Parliament was not discussed at the special Cabinet meeting today,” he said at a press conference today.

Ismail added that many pictures and videos of the government now circulating on the internet had been edited and taken out of context. He warned the public to be wary of spreading fake news, as it might confuse people further.

Earlier this morning, Muhyiddin had met with party chiefs and the Cabinet at the PMO, with sources saying the meeting was to seek their support for Budget 2021 which is set to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Nov 6.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, MIC president S Vigneswaran, International Trade and Industry Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali and National Unity Minister Halimah Mohamed Sadique were among those who had attended the meeting.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi did not join as he was reportedly unwell.

Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs held a separate meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre this afternoon.

The meeting was called following Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s decision yesterday that there was no need for a state of emergency to be declared, having received such a proposal from Muhyiddin last Friday.

It is also understood that Umno’s Supreme Council is set to hold another meeting tonight to discuss current political developments.
