People’s vote for PH led to this impasse, says Umno man

Zahidi Zainul Abidin says the dwindling economy and current political turmoil was caused by PH.

PETALING JAYA:
The current political turmoil is the culmination of the people’s choice of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the 2018 general election, an Umno member of the government said today.

Padang Besar MP Zahidi Zainul Abidin said the people should not blame politicians for the current state of affairs in the country as elected representatives and members of the administration were merely trying to remedy the situation.

Zahidi, who is a deputy minister in the Perikatan Nasional federal government, said the dwindling economy and current political impasse had been caused by the previous PH government voted in by the rakyat in the last general election.

He said the people had been duped by PH with various promises and were now paying for it.

The false promises included the writing-off of student loans and abolition of highway tolls, which never materialised.

“Politicians only want to fix the situation, so we are discussing what is best for the people. Hence the people should not blame the politicians,” he said after attending a meeting of Barisan Nasional MPs this evening.
