
The number of new infections exceeded 1,000 for the fourth day in a row.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 821 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 35,606.
In a press conference, Noor Hisham said the 1,103 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 48,520.
Meanwhile, the four deaths bring the toll to 313.
Out of the 544 Klang Valley cases, 484 were from clusters, with 150 in Selangor and one in Putrajaya. The bulk of the infections, or 385 cases, were from the Damanlela construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
A total of 139 cases were from prison clusters today, mostly from the Tembok cluster, affecting Perak and Kedah, with 111 cases.
Meanwhile, other prison clusters reporting new cases today were Matambai (15), Kepayan Prison (two), Rumah Merah (two), Benteng Lahad Datu (one) and the Sandakan Prison (four) from Sabah, and Seberang Perai Prison (four) from Penang.
The other new cases reported today were in Negeri Sembilan (90), Perak (116), Penang (26), Kedah (10), Labuan (eight), Johor (eight), Kelantan (seven), Terengganu (four), Melaka (one) and Perlis (one).
The four deaths recorded today, involving three Malaysians and one foreigner, were aged between 46 and 73. Three of them had chronic conditions.
There are currently 12,601 active cases, with 102 patients receiving intensive care, of which 39 require respiratory assistance.
Pahang is the only state that did not record any new Covid-19 infections today.
The health ministry announced that there was only one imported case, from Saudi Arabia, today.
